Sammy with the "Matson" Sign |
Is there any better feeling than the plane landing, walking through the airport with your bags and yes, seeing a stranger with your name on a piece of paper? Our private driver, Sammy, seems genuinely excited to see us and we are VERY ecstatic to see him.

Chesterfield Hotel |
Our hotel, the Chesterfield Mayfair is exquisite (
http://www.chesterfieldmayfair.com). After a day of exploring London - Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Trafalgar Square and the London Eye (no, we didn't go on it), we were pooped. Somewhere in there we made it to Punch Bowl a local pub and had the best fish and chips EVER!

Chris, Concierge Extraordinaire | |
We came back to our hotel for a much needed glass of champagne then took the recommendation of our incredible concierge, Chris and went to an Indian restaurant, Tamarind, for dinner. The food was perfect and full flavored but the highlight...the wine pairings that we happened upon! Clos de los Siete a Malbec/Cab/Merlot blend from Mendoza Argentina and Te Kahu Cab/Merlot from Hawks Bay NZ...the perfect curry and chutney wines! After dinner our waiter brought out chocolates - one of them being a mint leaf lightly covered in white chocolate - all my favorite flavors in one bite, Holly was a very happy girl:-) Highly recommend this restaurant, it isn't cheap but it is well worth every penny.
Day 1 in London = Perfect!
