Graffiti on wall at Juliet' House |
After putting our bags away we headed to explore the city starting with the house/balcony of Juliet (of Romeo and Juliet) which was not much to see. It was full of graffiti from every star-crossed lover writing their name on the wall...sort of detracting don't you think?
We proceeded to wander the city but to be honest, we were exhausted...this vacationing stuff is hard work. So after dinner we retired in the room, watched CNN (our lullaby) and were sound asleep by 9pm. So the sounds of romance in Verona were more like zzzzzzzzz:-)

Just a quick note regardning dinner - a local traditional meal is HORSE meat...yep, HORSE meat. Needless to say that will not be on my plate this week.

This morning (Sept 9th) we awoke to a breakfast of fruit and espresso then set forth to conquer Verona. First stop was the Plaza Erbe, Giardino Giusti Gardens and then the Roman Theatre. The Roman Theatre is a musem that is also used as an opera house. The views from the top are well worth the stairs! After lunch we headed to the room to catch up on emails, work and blogging. I think we are still a little sleepy - the energy is lacking!
And tonight we will attempt to Rally and enjoy dinner at Ristorante Greppia....it comes highly recommended by our friend and Italy guru, Darcy.
